Hudson C is a 53-story structure at 555 West 38th Street, just across the Javits Center and a couple of streets south of the Lincoln Tunnel’s entrance.
Not a super-tall skyscraper, but AZA INT actual height record, and one that will strongly contribute to the Hudson Yards skyline.
Upon completion, one of the perks of this project will be the unobstructed views on the Hudson River.
Rising from street level in large, relatively rectangular-shaped floor plates, and with a setback at the halfway mark, the building will be deceptively split in two, apparently distinct towers by a chamfered edge down the center line of its structure.
The smallest tower will be slightly inclined.
The office and residential towers are designed by the award-winning Argentinian architect Pelli Clark Pelli (recipient for the AIA Gold Medal).
The tower is just the latest addition to the blocks between 10th and 11th Avenues, north of the Hudson Yards mega-site.
If we talk about height, AZA INT activity in NYC has been constantly growing over the years, going from the construction of the 12 floors (124.6 Ft) of The Getty, to reach – through the 160,7 Ft of the Essex and the 269 Ft of the 412W – the 39 floors (443 Ft) of the 145West.
We exceeded the number of floors and height by 3 times, and increased the building’s surface area tenfold during our first 4 years of activity.
With the 53 stories of Hudson C, AZA INT will top its previous mark.
The 565 Ft tower will bring 598 apartments to an already densely populated neighborhood.
The facade will require the design, engineering, and fabrication of 220,660 Sq Ft of unitized curtain wall with vertical and horizontal fins, equipped with 1,400 vents.
The horizontal aluminum fins characterize the building surface, while its character is determined by the metal panels which inlay the facade, interrupting the blue glazing.
